A Little Good News, Longmont
Two bits of good news from the Times-Call today:
1) The front page declares “170 jobs coming to city” - This bright spot made possible via GE Energy’s relo from its Loveland facility to more than 150,000 square feet right here in Longmont - at 1800 Nelson Road to be exact. Maybe some of the folks landing a job in this new southern locale might like to buy a home close by to go with it. (As a current Longmonter - Longmonite? - I can say it’s a great place to live! With the flavor of Main Street, the Twin Peaks’ beauty, Boulder County affordability, and all the conveniences of a Target and a Chili’s, one hardly has need to leave the city limits.)
2) Page C6 has good news about money - That government bail out of the banks, you know the one, well a little article in the Business section points out that $33.56 billion of that rescue fund actually got doled out. 21 banks have now got it, and a lot of us need it. (This could definitely help facilitate potential real estate transactions from the aforementioned good news item #1.)
It is a crazy economic climate to be sure - which makes it all the more imperative to stay abreast of the activity in your own microclimate. Here in Longmont, local news is easy enough to come by on-line or stuffed in an orange plastic sleeve most mornings on your driveway. So stay informed.
Let’s see what tomorrow’s paper has to say …
